Milton Keynes is a vibrant, modern, large town located in the county of Buckinghamshire. The town is home to a wide variety of attractions and sites of interest, from the Milton Keynes Theatre (with a capacity of 1400 seats) to the substantial Centre:MK shopping centre. Arguably, the town has gone on to become a regional attraction in its own right, with the acquisition of a successful football team and the town's unique grid layout adding to the its national profile. Few towns can match Milton Keynes in terms of a sustainability effort, with a variety of cycleways meandering their way around the town, offering both scenic and practical routes. In addition, the town has also been dubbed a 'forest city' due to the local council's tree planting effort. Figures collected in 2006 suggested that the town was home to upwards of 20 million trees and the figure will continue to grow day by day. The town is relatively new, being built in an attempt to contain the overspill of the population from major surrounding cities. As such, Milton Keynes was purposefully built equidistant from London, Birmingham, Cambridge, Oxford and Leicester. It is therefore ideally located for professionals and city workers to stay for the night in one of many Milton Keynes hotels, or perhaps for a longer visit to take in the tourist attractions that the town and the surrounding area have to offer.

People may choose to visit Milton Keynes for a whole range of different reasons. The town is likely to attract extreme sport enthusiasts, with the town playing host to the Xscape venue, which boasts a real snow slope for skiing, snowboarding and other pursuits. A number of competitions take place in the Xscape venue every year, often bringing in a national or even international field of competitors. Athletes searching for some welcoming accommodation will be well advised to search through some of the various hotel options to be found in the town centre, with many hotels within walking distance or the Xscape complex, or a short drive.
